Blue Mees is a small independent jewelry brand based in Belgium, creating colorful earrings for people who like something a little different.

Every pair starts here, in our own atelier. We don't select ready-made designs from a catalogue and simply add our name to them. Our earrings are developed from the first sketch onward — choosing the shapes, proportions, colors, acrylics and decorative elements that eventually come together in the finished design.

Some pieces are clean and geometric, others are floral, abstract or deliberately bold. What connects them is our love of color, interesting shapes and earrings that can change the feeling of an outfit without taking themselves too seriously.

How our earrings are made

Most Blue Mees earrings begin as a sketch on paper before the design is developed digitally and prepared for production.

The acrylic elements are precision laser-cut in our atelier and then checked, finished and combined with the other parts of the design. Depending on the model, this can include metal details, stones, glass elements, beads or decorative connectors.

The final assembly is done by hand, pair by pair.

Working this way gives us much more freedom than buying finished components. We can adjust proportions, try unexpected color combinations and create shapes specifically for a Blue Mees design.

It also means that a new pair of earrings can sometimes begin with something very simple: a shape we notice, a new acrylic sheet arriving at the atelier, or two colors sitting next to each other on the worktable that suddenly work surprisingly well together.

Why acrylic?

Acrylic gives us the freedom to work with color, transparency, shimmer, texture and unusual shapes while keeping larger earrings relatively lightweight.

That balance is important to us.

We love statement earrings, but we don't believe a statement earring needs to feel heavy. Many of our designs have quite a visible presence while remaining comfortable enough to wear for much longer than their size might suggest.

Different acrylic finishes also behave very differently in the light. Some are transparent, some softly colored, some reflective or shimmering. We use those differences as part of the design rather than treating acrylic simply as a flat colored material.

Designed and handcrafted in Belgium

Design and production remain close together in our small Belgian atelier.

From sketching and testing proportions to laser cutting, finishing and assembling the final pair, we stay involved throughout the process.

Keeping production close also allows us to work in smaller quantities, experiment with new combinations and regularly introduce new designs without having to produce huge collections at once.

There can be small variations between individual pieces because each pair is finished and assembled by hand. We see that as part of the character of a handmade product.

Are Blue Mees earrings lightweight?

Lightweight construction is one of the reasons we work so much with acrylic.

The exact weight naturally depends on the size and number of components in a design, but even many of our larger statement earrings are designed with comfort in mind.

What materials do you use?

Acrylic is the main material in many Blue Mees designs, combined with carefully selected jewelry components such as stainless steel, brass, glass, stones and decorative beads.

The exact combination differs from one design to another, so the materials used for a particular pair are listed on its individual product page.

Our ear components are nickel-free and selected with sensitive ears in mind.

Are the earrings available in different colors?

Yes. Many Blue Mees designs are available in six different color variations.

We like creating several interpretations of the same shape because the character of an earring can change completely with a different acrylic, stone or bead combination.

That means someone who loves a design can often choose between something softer and more understated or a brighter version with considerably more color.

Are the earrings exactly the same as the photographs?

We make every effort to photograph the earrings as accurately as possible.

Because some acrylics are transparent, reflective, holographic or slightly translucent, their appearance can change depending on the lighting and surroundings. Colors can also appear slightly different from one screen to another.

As each pair is individually assembled, very small variations may occur between pieces.

How should I care for my earrings?

Acrylic earrings don't require complicated maintenance.

Store them somewhere dry and preferably separately from jewelry that could scratch the surface. Avoid exposing them unnecessarily to perfume, hairspray, cosmetics or cleaning products.

If necessary, gently wipe the acrylic with a soft, clean cloth.

We also recommend removing earrings before showering, swimming or sleeping.

Made for individual style

We don't design around one particular occasion or way of dressing.

Some Blue Mees earrings are small and easy to combine with everyday clothes. Others are deliberately long, colorful or oversized and are made to become the focus of an outfit.

Our collection includes geometric earrings, floral designs, abstract shapes and larger statement pieces, giving you room to find the style that feels most like you.

Blue Mees for independent stores

Blue Mees also works with concept stores, boutiques, gift shops and other independent retailers.

Because the collection includes different sizes, shapes and color families, retailers can put together an assortment that suits their own customers rather than buying one identical look across an entire range.

A small brand, made close to home

Blue Mees isn't a mass-produced jewelry label.

It is a small atelier where ideas are drawn, tested, cut, assembled, rejected, changed and sometimes completely started again before a design becomes part of the collection.

That's the part we enjoy most.

Creating earrings that feel distinctive, are enjoyable to wear and hopefully become one of those pieces you reach for much more often than you expected.
